Backdating! I haven't traveled much recently, but I also never spent time writing about my food adventures in different places. But I did take photos sometimes! Lets go back to October 29th-31st. The 30th was my older brother's 21st birthday and we decided to go to Vegas as a family and have some fun!

Now my memory is a little foggy (having never journaled this before), but I do remember the hotel, the shows, the food, and the fun times. We stayed at the Venetian that year, a break away from our usual, go-to hotel, The Mandalay Bay. We had tickets to a few different shows that year, so swim times weren't in the plan anyway (and Mandalay is always great for its pools!) So we decided to try something new.

I'd been in the Venetian before- we watched Phantom of the Opera there the year prior and its a beautiful hotel.

When we arrived, we were told our room wasn't quite ready and that they'd need some time before we could go up. No problem. We made our way through to the casino area where there was a nice food bar/lounge for casual dining (it was either the Food Court area or the Café Presse?). Thinking back, I imagine were all pretty famished from the drive (or perhaps just peckish). So dad decided to get a sandwich and split it with my younger brother.

I wasn't hungry at first, but then I saw his food and took a gander at the menu-- I saw something I liked! So I decided to go grab a sandwich to split with my mom.
Nothing fancy, but sometimes the simple stuff can turn out to be really excellent.

I ended up getting the Smoked Ham and Monterey Jack Cheese sandwich with green chilies, lettuce, tomato, red onion and chipotle mayo on a French roll.

For what appears to be a fairly simple sandwich, let me tell you, everything was right about it. (I wonder if its still on the menu? I mean, its been years..) If you're ever up for a quick bite, this isn't a bad choice. But hey, I'm crazy about sandwiches so. With the unlimited options in Las Vegas, you're always bound to find something you like.

We had tickets to see Penn & Teller's show (which was incredible). The duo stayed after for autographs and to meet and take photos with their fans- such awesome dudes! And we saw Cirque du Soleil's KA (which was PHENOMENAL). I'm a huge Cirque du Soleil fan and I can easily say that "KA" was one of the best shows, acrobatics, music and performances I have ever seen in my life. We had fantastic seats, really close to the stage which was an extra plus!

A stop at California Pizza Kitchen before seeing the Animal Exhibit at The Mirage (Kung Pao Spaghetti and Southwest Chicken Pizza).

Another great stop (although I forgot to take photos) was the Noodle Asia within the Venetian Hotel where my younger brother and I went out for late night munchies for noodles and green tea. I got the Singapore noodles with chicken and shrimp. Really delightful although very filling, large portions (had to get a to-go box for the rest).

Back in the room we chilled and watched television and ordered some late night drinks that never actually arrived (seven years later and I'm still waiting on that Peach Bellini).
